The Journey Continues

Never give up.
Even when you have nothing left, don't give up.

DB - The Vagabond
*********************

Yo! Vagabond! Tsup? Where you been?
Told me to tell you they're lookin for you. I mean?
****************************************
On October 14 I suddenly lost my Internet Connection and my Windows. 42 days, 53 hours on the telephone and about $240 spent, I'm finally back.

The nightmarish saga I've been through is too complicated to describe in a single entry, so I will spill it out in Lego blocks over time and try to find the laughs. I and my sense of humor have been severely beaten, but not broken, I hope. My rage and frustration will have to be imagined.

I'll just make a few comments tonight, First, I have to express my thanks to all the people who helped to get me set up with a new computer. My heart is filled with gratitude and appreciation for what you did. I want to thank each one of you individually though most of you are anonymous at the moment. Two special thank yous are important: to Linda in Washington who kept in touch with me regularly to check up and see how I was doing, and Just Plain Bill who delivered the computer to my door and schlepped it up 3 flights of stairs for me. I was completely surprised. I had no knowledge that it was happening and when it came I was speechless. Bill will tell you, I probably mumbled something stupid like "Oh, wow."

Secondly, it was a major heartbreak to me that I couldn't send a journal entry to tell you why you weren't hearing from me. I sent a letter out to the few people I had addresses for, but I had to leave the rest of you with no explanation.

Thirdly, I'm looking forward to reading your journals and comments and my 258 emails. Unfortunately the font size is so small now that I need a magnifying glass to read anything. It's going to be a slow and painful process unless someione can tell me how to make the print a normal size. Like this.

I appear to have lost all my stories, the ones on Word that weren't transferred to Vagabond
Tales. I guess I'm starting over in many ways.

If you live in the USA, or even if you don't, have yourself a joyful Thanksgiving, you hear me?

DB

DB, it is so good to see these words!

I know everyone is going to be so excited to see your first entry with the new machine. As one of your newest followers, I was stunned that I might not get to read more of your posts. I read some of your posts after finding you through Beth at Nutwood and then the next thing I knew you were gone. Thankfully, I knew why and could help out. Anyhow, I saw your post in the reader and had to come by and say hello, before I was gone for the holiday tomorrow.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving and a great holiday weekend!

I was excited to see your first post indicating you are back. Go to audio on your computer oh what is it, anyway it is off line. Where you change appearances. I just enlarged my print as apparently the new explorer always reduces it to teeny weeny. Well, our plight could happen to anyone. I helped some but not much as I had already gone Xmas shopping, but Linda in WA was indeed a friend in need as was Just Plain Bill. Hope to continue your story.

DB,

I don't know why I decided to sign onto Blogger tonight, but i did, and yours was the first entry in on my dashboard. A friend and i were talking about journals and the fact that we don't write much anymore, but that we wanted people we care about to know we were thinking of them.

I haven't been around enough to know a darn thing about what's been going on with you, but please know this: I still think of you often and wish you well. Always.

Happy Thanksgiving, DB.

Missed you DB - did you get a Vista or Windows 7? If you want to change the font size, there should be options in both Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. Try to sniff around and see if you can find them. For display properties, try the extra large fonts, or change your display resolution to a moderate 1024 x 768 pixels. This is what I use for my main desktop to work on my photos. Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and looking forward to catching up soon. (((HUGS)))
