I don't know what it's like in your town but I'm convinced that in my town the Institution of Lower Learning is really just a place to enclose youngsters for half a day to keep them out of people's hair. Education is a useful by-product. As long as you've got them there you might as well teach them something. But when school is over and you let them out they immediately start behaving like a bunch of crazy people. They run around yelling and screaming like an insane mob. If they weren't so small it would be frightening. It's frightening anyway.

to teach them that means that they would have to learn life lessons about things that matter, like everyone cant always win and sometimes life just sucks and you get the short end of the stick even though you tried your best. they cant do that because it could hurt someone's feelings and school these days is more about making kids feel good rather than actually teaching them something of value.

at least for me. I enjoyed the visual images your words conjured for me. Interesting comment. Life's lessons can be tough. I do isee it differently on one point. I believe helping kids learn how to feel good....particulary about themselves....is a lifelong valuable learning

You should be here with the rest of the world in downtown Vancouver's streets. Full of weird, wacky and downright wooley people. I took a few photos, but missed the guy with the horns on his head. Maybe next time . . .
