The Daily Items

For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him?

I Corinthians
****************
Item #1 -- The difference between childhood and old age is that when you are a child, most of the people in the world are older than you are. They have most of the wisdom and most of the authority. And then one day, one hour, one moment when you don't realize it, suddenly most of the people in the world are younger than you are. They may not have most of the wisdom but they have most of the authority.

Item #2 -- On Thursday of last week the computer erased about 16 hours of my work. No getting it back. I've redone about 3 hours if it. I'm searching for my enthusiasm.

Item #3 -- Upon Krissy's suggestion, which was a good one, I cleaned out my closet. As a result I have a large leather bag filled to the brim with clothes, most of it in good condition. I wanted to donate it to the Salvation Army, but they don't send a truck to pick up just a single bag. So here it sits.

Item #4 -- This month, the month of the Income Tax and a malfunctioning telephone, I must go from the 1st to the 21st with no income. The longest possible stretch to the SS check. At the end of the month there will be no money left, but there will be a bit of standard type food in the apartment, finally, food I don't have to chew. Wasn't it T. S. Eliot who said April is the cruelest month?

APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding

Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing

Memory and desire, stirring

Dull roots with spring rain.

Winter kept us warm, covering
5
Earth in forgetful snow, feeding

A little life with dried tubers.

(TSE)

Item #5 -- There's another exhibit of paintings by local artists, But I'm unable to display any of my paintings. It's in another town and I had no means of getting them there.

Item #6 -- No one is expected to know who JB is.

Item #7 -- One effect of living a vagabond life is learning to do things for myself, even if it takes my three times as long. I'm not used to asking for help. I don't know where help is.

Item #8 -- The computer is not enabling me to post "gadgets." Thanks to Bill I have a camera to take photos of my paintings. But then I don't know if I can put them up. I'll have to solve that somehow. And I'll have to get my printer working.

Item #9 -- Will power is a mighty thing and something we must never sacrifice to an emasculated god. It must always be used for benefit, never for harm.

Item #10 -- My first real job, as a teenager with a Social Security number, was at the Port Chester Daily Item. I worked in the circulation department one summer. I operated a machine that wrapped up newspapers for the mail. Two summers later I had my first professional acting job.

Is it my youth that grants me the ability to let less than good times flow past or is that the callowness of my relative youth making me foolish again?

The bottom line is that the struggle will come to an end. Being prepared for fail or for win is a matter of attitude and character.

You have a lot of character, DB. You will pull through... you are mostly there with keeping active and letting your spirits improve.

So nice to see you come up for a breath of air db. Not been a good month for you at all. Some people say that things happen for a reason, so I am wondering if there is any reasoning behind your spell of bad luck and bad news. Perhaps some new opportunties will present themselves. I sure have to agree with you when you say "suddenly most of the people in the world are younger than you are." Snotty little brats will be controlling my old age and my golden years. God help me. So I will raise my cup of coffee and say "cheers" db. Let's hope May will be a little more kinder than April has been for you.

Hi, DB. I agree with Mark and pacifica62. Things happen for a reason, and things will get better. Sometimes we don't know the exact reasons why we are going through things, but find out why when we come out on the other side. I think for you winter is not completely quite over in some ways, but as you come farther into Spring, and into the sunshine, you'll see new plants sprouting in your soul, and new opportunities. These plants, these beautiful flowers, still need the wintertime of your soul to have time to germinate and to grow into something so beautiful that you will be amazed! You will be different and your opportunities will be different, you'll see...

Now about being a vagabond -- yes, we must always try until we get something accomplished, if we are meant to get it done. But sometimes that means asking others for help, if that's the only way to get it done. See, that's part of the process, and may be the way it's supposed to get done! Just think on that, ok, bud? Oh, and congrats on doing your closet!

Oh, one more thing. About the photos and pictures. I forgot I was supposed to help you. They often won't go in unless you put them in through another FTP space. They have to be hosted from somewhere else, sometimes, if you want to put them into Blogger. Many of us who use Blogger also use Photobucket. I was going to explain it over the phone but your phone is broken. The first thing you need to do is see if you can figure out photobucket. Go to www.photobucket.com and open an account. See if you can get any of your pics from your computer onto photobucket. But meanwhile leave them on your computer also (for awhile), just in case you mess up photobucket, LOL. Then Val or I can tell you how to get the pics from photobucket to inside your blogger post. It would be almost impossible to explain photobucket, you just have to play around w it, like I did. And they keep changing it, LOL. Basically, you're uploading your photos and/or graphics from your computer into photobucket site (their FTP space), and then downloading your photos/pics/graphics, when you choose to use them, into your blogspot blog (or anywhere you choose). It gets simple once you start to do it. Any Qs, just email or IM me. I do so hope that helps.

You sound very down and have every reason to be. But, I know very well that you can rise above all this. You are a strong and brilliant man.

I understand what it is like living on a social security check........stinks!

Wish I would hit the lottery....I would share with you my friend.

Wow, you brought to mind, yeah...most people seem to be younger than me now! Well, we older folks have each other as friends and good friends at that.

Hugs,Rose

Sorry that your computer did not cooperate, and caused you trials and tribulations.

I am sure that there must be a senior service in the area that will help you with pickups and art delivery, hope you can check into it.
